Kitties need food!
Unlike my neighbors, I don't usually like to go begging on behalf of myself or charities. I think it's people's own business how, when, and to whom they donate. But this is a smallish charity and a lot of people aren't even aware it exists. . .and it's in trouble. Check it out: http://www.bigcatsofserenitysprings.org/blizzard06.htmBasically, the Colorado snow has caused this organization that cares for big cats (the cats have been rescued from various situations; they're not kept as pets or anything) to spend money that was saved for food on snow clearance. If you have any spare money, you might think of sending it their way. There are 147 cats, and they need to eat! |

And it's catching.
Someone else fired up a mower. In less than an hour, I hope I will be eating supper. Then I have to go to the dentist. By the time I get back, it will probably be dark. Our house is stuffy because I didn't let any air in during the kiddo's nap. Damn the man! |

My neighbor is a big jerk.
Before my son's nap, I closed the doors and windows because I figured the neighbor would mow and I didn't want to breathe the allergens and have the kiddo wake up from the noise. So three hours later, after my son woke up, I started to get us ready to go outside and play. . .and the neighbor fired up his stupid mower. |

Ah, November.
I'm thankful for the people who understand me--some of them without even needing much in the way of explanation. Not everybody has that. I'm thankful for my family. Amy, I might take you up on the reading thing in December--I'll see how it goes. Let me know if you're available & want to do it (you don't have to). ; ) Right now I've got 10 1/2 chapters written, so I've got 1 1/2 to go. The last one I wrote was about twice as long as I expected it to be! [ mood| relieved] [ music| a crackling fire and baby sounds] |

I love Halloween. I am excited about trick-or-treaters and costumes and everything. I ordered my son's Christmas presents today. [ mood| happy] [ music| Objection--Shakira (running through my head)] |

Semicolon
You scored 30% Sociability and 64% Sophistication! | Congratulations! You are the semicolon! You are the highest expression of punctuation; no one has more of a right to be proud. In the hands of a master, you will purr, sneering at commas, dismissing periods as beneath your contempt. You separate and connect at the same time, and no one does it better. The novice will find you difficult to come to terms with, but you need no one. You are secure in your elegance, knowing that you, and only you, have the power to mark the skill or incompetence of the craftsman.
You have no natural enemies; all fear you.
And never, NEVER let anyone tell you that you cannot appear in dialogue! | | My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 13% on Sociability | | You scored higher than 62% on Sophistication |

P.S.
My goal was to have the writing for this book done by next April. But I will frankly be surprised, now, if it takes me till December. Not to jinx myself. |

For the first time, I miss being an English student. . .
because, as an English student, I always had people to bounce stuff off of. And now. . .now I show my writing to friends and they give me support, which I need, but not criticism, which I also need. (I'm not saying I want, for instance, criticism from my husband--I want his unbridled support and adoration.) Sol gave me a little bit of useful criticism the other day and I almost cried with relief. Lizzie's too busy and I need, I don't know, feedback from people whose opinions I respect. My former profs ignore my emails and I don't like going begging to them anyway. But the fact is that I want to have really helpful constructive criticism before I submit the work in question to agents/publishers. It has to be from people I trust, of course. Not from strangers who could attempt to plagiarize or whatever. I am really really good (I swear--I'm not full of myself--writing and proofreading are my specialties; I'm not saying I'm the most perfect person ever or anything) and just need a leg up. Once I'm published I think I'll be able to hold my own. [ mood| hopeful] [ music| More than Words--Extreme (not that I can hear it)] |

I think the error must be the Bon Jovi site's, 'cuz I just saw another title with a doubled apostrophe in it. |

HA!
I got Bill to carve a smirk jack-o'-lantern. It's on the front page at SmirkWatch now. Go to http://www.smirkwatch.com and click on "View Smirks" and you can see it. The label is "Smirk-o''-Lantern," but it's supposed to be "Smirk-o'-Lantern." Don't know if the typo is Bill's fault or Bon Jovi's. ; ) [ mood| pleased] [ music| my son's Baby Einstein piano] |

I couldn't help it.
I was reading this article and couldn't withhold my laughter. My poor son was asleep on my lap and my shaking woke him. He looked up at me with an apprehensive little smile, as if he couldn't decide whether to be amused or frightened. So, yeah, the article. It's long, but it's WORTH IT! http://www.thehighhat.com/Static/003/thanksgiving.html[ mood| hyper] [ music| "Dancing Queen"--in my head--you'll see why if you read the article] |
